  [it's snow joke]

a beer and a service station sausage later, we stormed germany on the autobahn in a day finding ourselves in austria's saltzburg. having been so concerned with the prospect of crossing the sahara mid summer and so only packing shorts and t-shirts, we were a little confused by the inch of snow we found on our bikes the next morning. nothing like good planning!

saltzburg to vienna, then a day later to hungary and budapest. not knowing where hungary was a week ago, we found ourselves staring across the truely mighty danube, about four times the width of the thames.

we never really understood the whole bike/pedestrian/tram right of way scheme (its illegal to ever turn left in budpest?!) but we managed to hardly runover anyone.

now we find ourselves in arad in romania, drinking forty pence beers and planning a hiking mission for a day or two in the dracula famous transylvanian mountains.
