we knew even before our arrival in greece that shipping south to egypt was never going to be easy. the ferry option died a death over a year ago and the land alternative was ruled out by war. the remaining options were either a five star blag as an illegal passenger on a cargo ship with the bikes, or stump up the cash for both flights and separate ship cargo.

red tape and current times forced the cash route, but even then the going was slow. a three day slog at the port scored nil point and the easter break only prolonged our frustration. fresh back from our island time out, we dug in again and got some new leads. the elusive cheap shared container was found and we were on a roll. all that remained was to convince greek customs that our bikes were in the country legally! easier said than done as having left the EU and re-entered they claimed we did not possess the necessary documents.

blood, sweat and beer finally beat the system. today we find ourselves with tickets to cairo in hand with the bikes bound for africa behind us. let it all begin!
